loWelcome to SPRING TERM
Week #6!

Hopefully your classes are going well!

It is that time of the year when students are issued new registration PIN’s.  All students are to be advised prior to receiving their PIN for Fall Term registration (priority registration phase 1 starts Sunday, May 15th). Please drop by or call the Psychology Department main office at 541-737-2311 to schedule an advising appointment with Psychology Academic Advisors Mike Crowley or Teri Duever. We encourage all Freshmen and Sophomores to see a Peer Advisor and we have Peer Advisors available to assist with basic advising questions.  If you would like to request a Peer Advising appointment, please do so via the main office.
The Psychology Department main office is here to assist you in with your academic needs such as registering for courses, scheduling advising appointments, getting your registration PIN, etc.  Our office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.   Please feel free to drop by anytime.

Success Tips:
•    50% of the term is gone!  Have you made that advising appointment yet? FALL term priority registration is coming – whether you are ready or not!
•    During week three, we recommended a visit to your professor during office hours.  It is good to do that again this week.  Possible topics of discussion could include concepts you don’t understand or questions you have, but by this time, you may have graded material from the class.  It would be good to review that graded material face-to-face with the professor or your TA, especially if you didn’t perform well.
•    Stay Healthy - The cold temperatures don’t just mean winter is here – it also means the return of the annual flu and cold season. Minimize your risk of getting sick by following these simple health tips:
•    Wash your hands! Hands should always be washed after using the restroom, after coughing, sneezing or blowing your nose, after handling animals, and before preparing and eating food. While this sounds simple enough, studies show that between 40 – 60 percent of people do not wash their hands after using the restroom.
•    Use proper hand washing techniques. Apply antibacterial soap to your hands, then rub them vigorously under hot water for 20 – 25 seconds. If soap and water is not available, waterless hand sanitizers are an acceptable alternative.
•    Eat right, get enough sleep and exercise.
•    Stay home from work or school if you don’t feel well. Not only is the rest good for you, you’ll also avoid spreading germs to others.
•    Consider getting an annual flu shot.
•    See your doctor if needed. Colds and the flu usually go away on their own within a week, but if it lasts longer or new symptoms develop, seek medical attention.
•    Research the health care services available at your school. Most schools have a student health center where you can get medical care and prescriptions at a reduced cost.
