Welcome to Week 2!!

The Psychology Department main office is here to assist you in with your academic needs such as registering for courses, scheduling advising appointments, getting your registration PIN, etc.  Our office hours are 8:00 am - 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.   Please feel free to drop by anytime.
If you would like to schedule an advising appointment with Dr. Crowley, please drop by or call the Psychology Department main office at 541-737-2311 to schedule an appointment. We encourage all Freshmen and Sophomores to see a Peer Advisor and have Peer Advisors available to assist with basic advising questions.  If you would like to request a Peer Advising appointment, please do so via the main office.
Happenings in Psychology:

  • We are in the process of hiring a new Academic Advisor and hope to make an announcement introducing that person in the next few weeks.
  • Psychology students currently organize 2 student groups; Psi Chi, a chapter of the national honor society in Psychology, and Psychology Society, a local-only group.
  • Psi Chi has application restrictions, including Psychology and overall GPAs of 3.3 or above, and at least 14 quarter credit hours. More information can be found at psichi.org and from Kylyn Kizer, current chapter president (kizerky@onid.orst.edu).
    1. Psychology Society is open to all Psychology majors and minors at any time with no credit or GPA restrictions, and students may choose to be in both Psi Chi and Psych Society. The role of Psych Society is especially to provide an introduction to the department and major professional development issues, as well as have fun with interesting psychological concepts in current society. Katie Hanna (hannaka@onid.orst.edu) can provide more information. Professor Sherman (aurora.sherman@oregonstate.edu) is the Faculty Advisor for both groups and can also provide information.
    2. Active Minds is hosting an event called "Have You Heard?" with a guest speaker named Jordan Burnham. He is a survivor of suicide, and is coming to Oregon State October 14th (Thursday) to talk about his journey through depression, as well as the coping skills he has learned and seeking help. . This is going to be a very powerful message that will be held at La Sells Stewart Center in the C&E Auditorium from 6:30p-8:00p.  This event is free, and open to the public.
