Summary:  Update 12:59 pm: The gas leak has been corrected and there is no longer a safety issue.

Update 1:13 pm:  The gas leak has been corrected and there is no longer a safety issue.  Occupancy can resume into the effected buildings.

OSU Corvallis Campus: There is a Natural gas line that is ruptured in the area of Gill and Ralph Miller Drive. Please avoid the area until further notice. Fire dept and Emergency services are on scene. If you work in Gill or Sports Performance Center please go to Valley Football Center until your area has been cleared. Timely warning: - Police seeking male with knife

Summary:  At 9:50am, OSP Trooper assisted Corvallis Police looking for a male on 23rd & Harrison who grabbed a young female near Ki-PHI and put a bread knife to her face.

This Timely Warning is distributed as a means of informing the Oregon State University community of a recent incident of public interest.  The event described below continues to be of concern with regard to personal safety and/or the protection of property.

Please read the following information carefully.  This will help you to make an informed decision about your response to this incident.

At 9:50am, OSP Trooper assisted Corvallis Police looking for a male on 23rd & Harrison who grabbed a young female near Ki-PHI and put a bread knife to her face. It is unknown if words were exchanged. The female was able to get away without much resistance and was not harmed. Possibly headed towards campus. At this time the male has not been located.

Oregon State University operations in Corvallis remain restricted on Sunday, Feb. 9, due to the effects of significant snowfall accumulations and freezing rain in Corvallis and surrounding communities.  Dixon Recreation Center will open at 10 a.m. Valley Library will open with limited staffing at 4 p.m. The Memorial Union will remain closed. Travel to and on campus should be limited to walking, and traveling by car to OSU’s Corvallis campus is discouraged. Oregon State University operations in Corvallis will be restricted on Saturday, Feb. 8, due to significant snowfall accumulations and a mixture of snowfall and possible freezing rain predicted Friday night and Saturday in Corvallis and surrounding communities. Travel to and on campus should be limited to walking, and traveling by car to OSU’s Corvallis campus is discouraged. The OSU women’s basketball game against Colorado will be played Saturday, Feb. 8, at noon and the women’s basketball game scheduled for Sunday will be played Monday, Feb. 10, at 6 p.m. The gymnastics meet against California scheduled for Saturday night has been canceled. Summary:  The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm warning for the Willamette Valley beginning before sunrise on Thursday, Feb. 6, and continuing through at least Thursday evening. Moderate to substantial snow accumulation, with as much as three to six inches, is possible.
